THE TRANSLATION OF NATURE

According to the research and translation of Chinese landscape paintings, I have extracted three key words: order, fluctuation, and contraction & release. I re-abstracted these three words by applying them to the main axis of the building. The introduction of the building gradually leads nature into the sight, enabling people to constantly feel the enclosure and extension of the nature in the building.

Combining these three rules above on a plane and a section creates the main axis of the hotel. Just like the three plans shown on the left, they present the change from the contraction of nature to the towering space of the lobby, and finally the release of the climax space when the scenery is finally seen. This is a route in which the senses are constantly changing as they travel.

Contraction

When people entered the building from huge mountains for the first time, the low walls reduced the scale to a one-level garden scale. This introversion of the courtyard would cause an emotional shift.

Conversion

After passing through the low entrance, the person will step into a towering lobby space. With a 45-degree axially rotating space, it highlights the directionality of the space, thus enhancing the importance of the distant landscape in his/her experience.

Release

When a person walks through a narrow aisle, an open view space comes in sight. The horizontal orientation strengthens the progressive relationship between the nearby pool and the distant mountain view.
